🧭 North Lake Inspection Update – May 2025

An on-site inspection of North Lake was recently conducted with representatives from Kieser, Aquest, Aquaweed, Washtenaw County, the North Lake Preservation Association (NLPA), and Water Resources Commissioner Gretchen Driskell.

🌡️ Current Conditions

  • Water temperature: Approximately 63°F
  • Weather: Mostly overcast with moderate winds

We’re pleased to report that North Lake is in the best condition it has been in for many years. While water visibility was not ideal, no significant growth of invasive weeds was observed.

🌿 What We Found

  • Small patches of milfoil
  • Minor algae
  • Some curly-leaf pondweed

Overall, conditions are very manageable and encouraging.

✅ Action Plan

  • Treatment Areas:
The canals and four small patches of milfoil will be treated.
  • Monitoring:
The NLPA will monitor four other areas where milfoil was present in very low quantities. Updates will be shared as needed, especially if rapid growth is observed—at which point the County will initiate additional action.

📆 Treatment Schedule

  • Post Signage Around North Lake:
    🗓️ Friday, May 30, 2025
  • Begin Treatment of Targeted Areas:
    🗓️ Monday, June 2, 2025
